Wherever she walked, sleeping fire stirred beneath the earth, and ancient creatures lifted their heads as if remembering a forgotten oath. The dragon behind her was not conquered, nor commanded. It had chosen her in the hour the mountains burned, when she stepped into the flames carrying nothing but a blade and came out with fire answering to her blood. Since that night, kingdoms had learned to fear the glow on the horizon, for it meant she was near, and something old had awakened with her.
