The First Feather- TSC Archangel Divine

*The First Feather is a collaboration brought to life by KoreRae, Jeremiah, and Spilledguts. Thank you all for the time, effort, creativity, and heart you have poured into this project, and for simply being so incredibly amazing to work with.*

The Luminethar, born of the First Light

The Luminethar say they began when the first dawn split the dark horizon and left a shard of its fire within mortal blood.

They raised pale citadels above the clouds and clothed themselves in silver-white armor, believing brightness to be proof of worth. Their wings bear the color of winter sunlight, and their oldest families speak as though command were something inherited through the blood.

They are the makers of law, the keepers of sealed histories, and the favored voice of the Council.

Yet the oldest tales warn that nothing casts a longer shadow than a light that refuses to dim.

The Luminethar call themselves the First Radiance.

The world simply calls them Light.

The Nocterans, heirs of the Unbroken Night

The Nocterans were born beneath moonless skies, in the hour when the world learned that darkness could shelter as easily as it could conceal.

They built no shining towers. Their halls were carved into black stone, hidden beneath forests, cliffs, and ruined kingdoms. Their armor is dark metal threaded with silver, and their wings carry the gleam of ravens beneath rain.

They are bound by fierce vows, remembered debts, and loyalties that survive long after love has soured into vengeance.

The Nocterans do not fear the dark.

They fear only the hand that would force them from it.

They call themselves the Unbroken Night.

The world simply calls them Shadow.

The Rhavael, Children of the Crimson Between
Before the Council taught dawn to fear the night, there were the Rhavael.

They belonged to neither radiance nor shadow, but to the strange red hour between them, when the world is neither what it was nor yet what it will become.

Their blood carried visions.

With a hand laid upon stone, steel, or living flesh, a Rhavael might see the wound already dealt, the secret buried beneath silence, or the shape of a future waiting to be chosen. Their sight did not follow time as other beings understood it. Yesterday could speak through tomorrow. The dead could whisper warnings into the dreams of the unborn.

Yet their visions were never mercifully clear.

They came in fragments: a crown beneath black water, a white blade stained red, two enemies holding the same feather while a city burned behind them. Every vision carried truth, but not always the truth its witness first believed.

This was why both great bloodlines feared them.

Light could command what was written. Shadow could conceal what was known. But neither could rule what the Rhavael might see.

So their sanctuaries were burned, their seers hunted, and their children hidden among other bloodlines until prophecy passed into legend.

Still, the oldest stories carry one warning:

The Rhavael were not destroyed because their visions were false.

They were destroyed because one of them saw the Council fall.

And when the First Feather burns red again, the future they feared will open its eyes.

The summons came before dawn.

By the time the sisters reached the citadel, the last stars were fading behind its towers, and the great halls had begun to fill with the pale, uncertain light that belonged to neither night nor morning.

They had both been raised beneath the wings of Shadow.

Only one of them truly belonged there.

They were not received by the Council.

A man of Light waited for them instead.

He stood beneath the vaulted ceiling in armor bright enough to gather what little dawn had entered the chamber, both hands resting upon a sealed scroll case. The mark pressed into the wax belonged to the Council, though no names appeared beneath it.

The elder sister noticed that first.

The younger noticed him.

Only for a moment, perhaps. A glance lifted and held too long. A flicker of curiosity passing between gold and shadow before either of them remembered what they had been taught to distrust.

Then the man opened the case.

The First Feather had returned.

For generations, it had survived only in forbidden stories, whispered of as a relic from the age before the bloodlines were divided, before Light and Shadow were taught to regard one another as enemies. Some claimed it had fallen from the wing of the First Radiance. Others believed it remembered something far more dangerous: the truth of what their kind had once been.

The Council commanded that it be found before word of its return could spread.

They were to leave together.

The elder sister listened without interruption, but unease settled slowly beneath her ribs. The Council was formed from both Light and Shadow, yet neither bloodline knew what was spoken behind its sealed doors. It had guarded the old histories for centuries, deciding which truths would be remembered and which would be reduced to ash.

And as the man of Light closed the scroll case, his gaze found her sister’s again.

That was when the elder understood that the Feather might not be the only danger awaiting them.

Somewhere beyond the citadel, an ancient relic had awakened.

Within it slept the truth the Council feared.

And beneath the Council’s silent gaze, something equally forbidden had already begun to stir.

The younger sister met the Luminethar where the Council kept the histories it did not wish remembered.

The chamber lay beneath the eastern towers, sealed behind doors that answered only to the blood of Light. No Nocteran had entered it for generations.

He opened it for her.

Ancient maps covered the table between them, their edges darkened by time. They showed the world as it had existed before the division, when the sanctuaries bore no mark of Light or Shadow and the oldest roads had not yet been struck from memory.

Somewhere among them waited the path to the First Feather.

They bent over the same map, close enough that gold touched shadow across the parchment.

She traced a road leading into Nocteran territory.

He showed her a ruin hidden within the sealed records of the Luminethar.

Neither explained how they knew what they knew.

She did not speak of the strange recognition stirring beneath her skin, as though the forgotten symbols remembered her blood.

He did not reveal the command still hidden beneath the Council’s seal.

They had come to use one another.

But when their eyes met across the ancient map, neither looked away.

Far beyond the citadel, the First Feather was waiting.

And in the secret chamber, beneath wings of Light and Shadow, something older than distrust had begun to awaken.
