Through Faust's Repose

She stepped through the mirror as though slipping between breaths, the glass rippling like black water. On the other side, frost devoured the world. Pines bent beneath the weight of centuries, their branches frozen mid-sway.

Time did not flow here; it cracked and echoed. She could hear her own footsteps from a hundred winters ago, feel the heartbeat of prey that had not yet been born.

Her reflection followed at a distance, a ghost out of sync. Somewhere between the shattered hours, she hunted herself, a vampire moving through mirrors and centuries, feeding not on blood but on the warmth of forgotten time.
