Miri crept through the moonlit garden, baseball bat in hand, weeds brushing her boots. Beside her strutted Gregory, bowler hat tilted, red tie gleaming like he was headed to a very violent business meeting.
A ghost drifted from the roses, moaning.
Miri lifted her bat. Gregory hissed like a teapot possessed.
One swing, one furious honk, and the ghost scattered like cheap fog machine smoke.
Miri lowered her bat. “Teamwork,” she said.
Gregory adjusted his hat. “Honk,” he replied, dignified and deadly.
